Each month the session will explore a different theme through a gentle mix of journaling, creativity and conversation. You’ll be guided by prompts to help you write, doodle, reflect and explore your ideas — with no pressure to be a “good” writer or artist. The prompt for this session is gratitude. Whether you’re new to journaling or already have a well-loved notebook, everyone is welcome. A welcoming space to slow down, get creative and connect — one page at a time. Practical Info: When: Late Night Art is the first Thursday of the month and The Crescent’s activity is between 6.30 - 8.30pm Location: Cafe Husk at The Crescent You don’t need to pre-book, and you can pop in any time Please bring along a notebook. A welcoming space to slow down, get creative and immerse yourself in Belfast’s art scene! About Late Night Art: For over 10 years Late Night Art has run across the whole of Belfast on the first Thursday of every month with many galleries opening their doors for an evening celebration of the vibrant visual arts scene. About the artist: Ian Megrath is an avid journal keeper and analogue enthusiast. Having fallen into the journaling habit during lockdown, he discovered the practice of journaling was a great creative outlet for recording ideas, emotions and the simple joys of everyday life. Knowing the beneficial impact journal keeping can have on mental health from personal experience, he hopes to encourage others into exploring this useful tool to express and reflect. Welcome to the table

As part of Irish Design Week 2026 Welcome to the table is a participatory visual project and exhibition exploring belonging, third culture identity and cultural exchange through the lens of food, table settings, and shared meal rituals. You are invited to co-create table environments inspired by different cultures and ways of living, with each table becoming a visual expression of heritage, cultural traditions, rituals as well as contemporary habits. The project is rooted in the idea that identity is not only shaped by nationality but by lived experience, creativity, migration and memory and that it continues to evolve. Through designed tableware, surfaces, vessels and place settings, audiences are invited to experience different cultures. From creating centrepieces with natural materials to exploring zines and Tunisian cuisine, our workshops during Irish Design Week 2026 will turn ideas into objects and shared experiences, with the resulting tables and stories displayed at Belfast Central Library and Second Nature. Join us and develop ideas through making and exchange with contributions from designers, artists, researchers and food practitioners.
