PANCHIKO

Singular Artists Presents: Panchiko On July 21st, 2016, a user on 4chan’s /mu/ board posted a photo of a mysterious CD they’d found at a record store in Nottingham, UK: a rough-worn demo titled D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, purportedly released in 2000 by four musicians: Owain, Andy, Shaun, and John. The listener uploaded the ripped audio—the recordings sounded like they were plagued with disc rot—to file-sharing sites, and later YouTube, where they began circulating among internet music circles. The record’s sensationalist appeal was multifold. Was this an honest-to-God ’90s curio? A prank hatched by internet-savvy teens? An internet experiment in nostalgia, in the spirit of vapourwave? Nobody knew. So the Panchiko hive mobilised, gathering on subreddits and discord servers, examining every square inch of the packaging for potential clues, and even calling the Nottingham record store where D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L had allegedly sprung up in the first place. “I woke up one day,” recounts Owain, “and ping—there’s a message on a defunct Facebook page of mine, ‘Hello, you’ll probably never read this, but are you the lead singer of Panchiko?’” The query took Owain by shock; to his and Andy’s knowledge, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L> had never been uploaded to the internet. The Panchiko fandom finally made contact the following day, when they received their reply from Owain, a simple “Yeah.” At last, the world had confirmation: not only were Panchiko not 14-year-old kids, they were the real deal, right down to the disk rot. Panchiko are excited to embark on a European tour, having amassed hundreds of millions of streams. They play The Belfast Empire on 30th October 2026. Bach Unseen | David McCann | Northern Lights Mini-Fest Sold out

The evening begins with Bach’s beloved Cello Suite No. 1 in G major, performed by solo cellist David McCann in traditional concert lighting. As the final notes fade, darkness envelops the room and three cellists emerge within a new work inspired by Bach’s suite. Drawing on fragments and resonances from the original music, the performers gradually move throughout the space, altering their relationship to one another and to the audience. Without a visual reference, sound becomes fluid and unpredictable. Melodies appear at a distance, echoes emerge from unexpected directions, and familiar material is reshaped through movement and perspective. The work invites listeners to experience music not as a fixed object on a stage, but as a living presence unfolding all around them. Please note: Due to the low-light nature of this concert, late entry will not be permitted. Much of the concert will take place in complete darkness, and for the safety and experience of all audience members, you will not be permitted to leave your seat until the concert has ended. Released to widespread acclaim in 2025 through the New Amsterdam (US) & Ten Spot (IRL) labels, their self-titled debut album is a genre-fluid gem that could slip into multiple sections of the most considered of record collections. Performed by renowned cellist Kate Ellis , harpist Lavinia Meijer and Caimin Gilmore on Double Bass, the music is a cross-genre brew that pulls from Caimin’s hugely interesting and varied career. It had its world premiere at Kilkenny Arts Festival in 2024 and has since been performed at the New Music Dublin Festival , PS21 Chatham Groundtone Festival , the Phoenix Gallery Vermont , and The Bridge Studios in Brooklyn. With a programme that also includes works by Philip Glass , Lavinia Meijer, Gabriella Smith , Benedict Schlepper Connolly and Ann Cleare , we are delighted to welcome BlackGate to Belfast. Gilmore’s staggering ‘Blackgate’ suite is a triumph of tonality and sonorities… a flurry of beautiful and brilliant ideas woven into an elemental odyssey of an album. The Goo As much as this band is working in a neoclassical space, they are also extremely conversant in contemporary music, and this record really has its feet in both… It’s a beautiful record.
