NAZA

Shot at night on the rooftops of Tel Aviv, NAZA reveals the systems behind Israel’s bombing of Gaza and its mass killing of Palestinian civilians. The film is directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, two of the four co-directors of the 2024 Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land. NAZA is titled for a military acronym euphemistically used by Israeli intelligence to indicate the number of civilians that it expects will be killed in an airstrike. The film builds on revelations first published by the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine, Hebrew-language outlet Local Call, and the Guardian between 2023 and 2025. "The film lets us explore something deeper than we could in our investigative journalism alone: not only the words being said but also those that are not said, the silence. It is up to all of us to break that silence." Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor

Ken Russell's The Devils

Censored for more than half a century, Ken Russell’s visionary masterpiece returns to the big screen fully restored in 4K and cut to Russell’s direction - the first publicly released version of the film as intended by the filmmaker. An enduring masterpiece of cinema starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, Ken Russell’s The Devils is a prescient epic of obsession and corruption, and a defining work of art from a seminal filmmaker. Inspired by the true story of 17th-century priest Urbain Grandier, accused of bewitching a convent of nuns, the film lays bare the collusion of church and state through a searing vision of religious persecution, collective hysteria and institutional corruption. Unveiled at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the definitive version arrives 55 years after the film’s original release. In addition to powerhouse performances from Reed and Redgrave, Ken Russell’s The Devils showcases the stunning work of artists at the peak of their craft. The 8.45pm screening on Fri 30 Oct will include an in-person introduction by Mark Kermode. Maddie’s Secret W/ Normal Cinema Club

Normal Cinema Club is excited to return to Belfast Film Festival with one of the funniest and most heartbreaking films of the year. Maddie Ralph works as a dishwasher at Gourmaybe, a test kitchen/content creation lab, though secretly she dreams of a life as a viral chef, creating reels and recipes for millions of adoring fans. Fortune shines fondly on Maddie and she skyrockets into fame, becoming one of the lab’s on-camera personalities. But soon the success turns sour, and the intense scrutiny that comes with a life lived online manipulates and tortures Maddie’s sense of self. Maddie’s Secret is many things at once: absurdist comedy, razor-sharp satire, deeply sincere melodrama, a love letter to American TV movies as much as John Waters as much as Douglas Sirk – John Early’s ability to walk this tightrope without one false note is what makes the film so singular. Furthermore, he writes, stars, produces and directs in what is sure to be one of the most egregious snubs of the Oscars race. Why? They hate true talent. The cast is rounded out by numerous shining stars: Kate Berlant, Eric Rahill and friend of the club, Conner O’Malley. Simply put, there’s no reason to miss one of the definitive films of our current age. TW: the film contains depictions of disordered eating, self-harm & suicide.

Our Share of Sand

When twelve year old Maya returns to rural India with her mother, she reconnects with her estranged father. When an accident at his sand mining business reveals inequalities between her family and the local community, Maya’s mother descends into angstridden guilt, while Maya decides to confront things her own way. A fantastic directorial debut, the film effectively portrays the adult world from the perspective of a child. Using the elemental backdrop of earth and water as its stylistic underpinning, this beautiful film flows steadily towards its gut-wrenching climax.

You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead

It’s Christmas time, but the Cosgrove family aren’t having a very merry one. The family has fallen on tough times and jobs are hard to come by. After hearing about a robbery gone awry, they amuse themselves by imagining robbing one of the neighbours. Farmer Charlie Bann is bound to have money, sure, and he’d be an easy one to knock off, surely… Fuelled by Christmas spirit and desperation, the sons decide to follow through on their scheme, dragging the rest of the Cosgroves with them. Director Dallan Shovlin makes his feature debut with this delightfully dark comedy, smartly melding the thrilling mechanics of a heist film with a keen social sense of contemporary Ireland. The film never forgets the stark economic realities forcing the Cosgrove family into delinquency. The family is brought to life by an all-star cast of Irish talent, featuring Michelle Fairley and Ardal O’Hanlon as the matriarch and patriarch respectively, with Jacob McCarthy, Ruth Codd and Peter Claffey as their children. The elusive and reclusive Charlie Bann is portrayed by this year’s Réalta Award winner Stephen Rea.

BECOME A MEMBER One of Brian Friel’s most enduring plays, Faith Healer returns in a production that brings together three acclaimed Northern Irish actors, Conleth Hill, Lisa Dwyer Hogg and Chris McCurry. Faith Healer weaves an extraordinary tale of a travelling healer who, after making his way through Wales and Scotland, returns to his homeland of Ireland in the hope of regaining his fading powers. Frank Hardy offers miracle cures to the sick and suffering, but as a man who is part showman, part shaman, his gift is astonishing and dangerously unreliable. Frank, his wife Grace, and his manager Teddy, each recounts their shared life on the road. As their memories clash and competing versions of the past emerge, Friel’s spellbinding prose crafts a powerful and haunting exploration of memory, belief and the stories we tell. Hailed by The Guardian (2024) as one of the greatest plays of the twentieth century, this play has captivated audiences internationally since its 1979 Broadway premiere. Experience the compelling revival of Friel’s masterpiece return to Belfast as part of the Lyric Theatre’s 75th anniversary season. "A quietly devastating study of pain recollected and the transfiguring nature of memory. It is one of those rare works of art audiences are destined to recall as a deeply personal experience, and you'll find yourself trying to sort out the different visions of reality… long after the play is over." — The New York Times The Company Lisa Dwyer Hogg Grace Conleth Hill Frank Hardy Chris McCurry Teddy Brian Friel Writer Emma Jordan Director Stuart Marshall Set Designer Paul Keogan Lighting Designer Enda Kenny Costume Designer Garth McConaghie Composer & Sound Designer Close Date & Times Date & Times Date Time Fri 30 Oct 2026 19:30 Limited Availability Sat 31 Oct 2026 14:30 Sold Out Sat 31 Oct 2026 19:30 Choose seats Sun 01 Nov 2026 14:30 Limited Availability Tue 03 Nov 2026 19:30 Choose seats Wed 04 Nov 2026 19:30 Choose seats Thu 05 Nov 2026 14:30 Choose seats Thu 05 Nov 2026 19:30 Choose seats Fri 06 Nov 2026 19:30 Limited Availability Sat 07 Nov 2026 14:30 Sold Out Sat 07 Nov 2026 19:30 Limited Availability Sun 08 Nov 2026 14:30 Audio Described Choose seats Tue 10 Nov 2026 19:30 Choose seats Wed 11 Nov 2026 19:30 Captioned Choose seats Thu 12 Nov 2026 14:30 Choose seats Thu 12 Nov 2026 19:30 Choose seats Fri 13 Nov 2026 19:30 Limited Availability Sat 14 Nov 2026 14:30 Limited Availability Sat 14 Nov 2026 19:30 Limited Availability Reviews “One of the best productions of Faith Healer you’re ever likely to see” “Luminous revival of Brian Friel's Masterpiece” “Beautifully Crafted”

Alison Moyet Sold out

The acclaimed singer-songwriter Alison Moyet is coming to Waterfront Hall on 03 November 2026! After 2024’s ‘Key’ album prompted a rediscovery of her solo catalogue and her first Top 10 chart position in eleven years, Alison Moyet now announces details of a unique UK and European headline tour which starts in September 2026 . The tour will consist exclusively of songs from the Yazoo catalogue and select tracks from her acclaimed solo electronica albums ‘the minutes’ and ‘Other’ . While a handful of Yazoo hits are staples of Alison’s live sets, much of the band’s material has rarely been performed outside of their two brief tours (their 1982 breakthrough and their 2008 ‘Reconnected’ reunion). This is a unique opportunity to experience songs live that propelled their phenomenal yet short-lived run, which encompassed the seminal album ‘Upstairs At Eric’s’ (certified Platinum in both the UK and US ) and their parting release ‘You And Me Both’ ( #1 in the UK ). Additionally, the tour will also feature select songs from Alison’s critically lauded solo LPs ‘the minutes’ (2013) and ‘Other’ (2017). Both albums, produced by and predominantly co-written with Guy Sigsworth , were emphatically received as triumphant creative returns to electronica making them the perfect partners for this tour. Alison says, Many years touring the same pool of songs and I am keen for a palate refresher. Specifying which years I will be fishing from too, I think is a grand way to serve pot luck for specific tastes. No bones…

Hollow Trees

In a post-apocalyptic world, a man and a young boy’s fragile means of surviving faces a new threat in the form of creatures capable of mimicking human sound. Their bond is further challenged by the arrival of a newcomer and the possibility of a better future. We follow their journey as they abandon the familiar; Tom Kerrisk expertly plays a hardened survivor and carer to a young boy played by Louis Kirwan, who brings a sense of real vulnerability to the role. It is an ambitious and at times truly unnerving work of filmmaking from promising young director Cathal Fitzpatrick. Through deft cinematography, the familiar Irish landscape is transformed into an uncanny space as trust, hope and the strength of chosen family are put to the test.

Minotaur

Andrey Zvyagintsev (Leviathan, Loveless) returns once again to cast his critical gaze on Russia in our bleak present times. Set in a provincial Russian town during the onset of the 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and made outside Russia with support from France, Latvia and Germany, this noir-esque thriller centres around a middle-class businessman who suspects his wife of having an affair. With his staff members disappearing to escape being drafted into the army, and pressure from local government to provide soldiers from his workforce, small-town executive Gleb is growing more concerned with matters at home. The film is based on Claude Chabrol’s The Unfaithful Wife from 1969, and shows how expert filmmaking can produce a quiet slow-build of dramatic tension. This screening has Audio Description available, and will have subtitles for d/Deaf and hard of hearing (SDH). There will be BSL signing for the introduction of the film.
